Hump Day Hook 14: Pulse & Prejudice - Post Proposal

The Dark Jane Austen Book Club has selected Pulse and Prejudice, the vampire adaptation of Jane Austen's classic love story, as their selection for February. Hence, I have chosen an excerpt from that novel for today's hook in case anyone might be interested in joining them in their reading!
This scene (2 paragraphs - sorry!) occurs immediately after Elizabeth has rejected Mr. Darcy's first proposal, and we see his reaction after storming out of the parsonage....

Darcy looked back towards the house and, seeing her through the window, squinted at the sight for confirmation. He felt a tug of tenderness as he realized that Elizabeth held her head in her hands, weeping. All caritas evaporated, though, as he recalled her bitter accusations—“Your arrogance, your deceit, your selfish disdain of the feelings of others!” He scoffed and spat out, “Teach not thy lips such scorn, for they were made for kissing, lady, not for such contempt.” He turned away in fury and strode out through the gate and onward towards Rosings.
