Six Sentence Sunday

The following excerpt is from Pulse and Prejudice, the paranormal adaptation of the Jane Austen classic, which tells the story of Mr. Darcy, vampire.

As those familiar with the Jane Austen classic know, soon after meeting, Miss Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy find themselves both houseguests at Netherfield. In this scene (not in the original), Darcy spies Elizabeth from his bedroom window as he is about to imbibe his nourishment - blood from the goblet left for him by his valet - before his daily respite.

Elizabeth glanced up towards his window, meeting met his eyes with a smile Darcy hoped might be for him until it faded into an expression of curiosity, and he noted the furrow of her brow just before pulling the drapes together and blanketing the room in darkness.
He sat on the bed and drank from the chalice Rivens had left for him on the nightstand then blew out the only candle. As he lay back and closed his eyes, the image of Elizabeth returned unbidden to his mind. She stood before him as before, but he was removing her gloves, unbuttoning her pelisse, and untying the ribbon from her neck. With a groan, he wondered why his thirst could not be quenched. As he drifted and succumbed to sleep, he hoped to bring her with him into dreams that would not come.
