A Sexy Morning ~ My Sexy Saturday ~ Dearest Bloodiest Elizabeth
"This week’s theme is A Sexy Morning. Don’t you just love it when you see characters have a snuggle down day that starts with an awesome morning? Or how about making love at dawn on a planet far away? Or watching the morning sky together for the very first time as the sun tops the ridge? This is a theme about that special time of the day where only lovers go. Do they wake up next to each other and wonder how they got there? Or are they all over one another?"
Good morning, dear readers,
As you see, this week's theme is "A Sexy Morning." Well, I'm not going to give it to you. Not really, at least.
I am sharing an excerpt from Dearest Bloodiest Elizabeth - the upcoming sequel to Pulse and Prejudice, the award-winning paranormal adaptation of the Jane Austen classic, which tells the story of Mr. Darcy, vampire. Since appearing in Entertainment Weekly introduced Pulse and Prejudice to a new audience, I thought this might be a good time to let readers know that the story will continue, following Mr. and Mrs. Darcy from the parlors of London to the plantations near Antebellum New Orleans.
Although almost all of Pulse and Prejudice is from the point of view of Mr. Darcy, as if Miss Austen herself had always conceived his character as a vampire and, for reasons only she could say, did not reveal them in her novel, Dearest Bloodiest Elizabeth is the story of the newlyweds and told from the point of view of both Elizabeth Darcy as well as her vampire husband.
In this excerpt, it is the morning after a night of passionate love-making when Elizabeth awakens. Disappointed.
Elizabeth awoke the next morning and rolled over and placed her hand on the cold emptiness beside her. She had fallen asleep in her husband’s arms after a night of passion and pleasure, only to awaken unclothed and alone. Again.
She knew this should not bother her, this most benign affectation of his condition. After all, most husbands and wives did not share a bed. Indeed, her husband’s bed lay on the other side of the door adjoining their chambers, although she knew he did not spend his nights there either. Unreasonable as she knew it to be, Elizabeth wished that once – just once – she might wake up in her husband’s arms.
A light scratching on her chamber door pulled her attention away from luxuriating in self-pity. “A moment,” she called out before pulling on her discarded nightrail and tying it high on her throat to conceal the tiny love-bites trailing down her neck.
I hope you enjoyed that little bite from Dearest Bloodiest Elizabeth!

Such a sad way to wake up. A true testament to the issues of loving a vampire.
