A New Year, A Guest Post, and an Amazon Giftcard Giveaway!

Happy New Year, Dear Readers! Wow - 2015 .... This decade is just flying by! I know many people are blogging about their "year in review," but it just kind of whooshed right by me. I know I worked - a lot! Mainly putting in plenty of overtime at my soul-sucking day job. I did finish two novels - one of them being Viuda , which is a work of art if I do say so myself (fingers crossed that my agent finds a publisher soon so you can finally read it!) - and, if I'm lucky, I might finish a third this week. I also completed the edits and enhancements for The Proud and the Prejudiced (which - as a reminder - is still only 99¢ on all eBooks through January 1st , then it jumps back to the extravagant regular price of $2.99). Right now it is only available on eBook but soon will be released in hardcover. I have so much planned for 2015, I hope I have enough time! I shan't take up too much of your time here, as I know you must have new years' preparations and

Sneak Peek from Modern Twist on Austen, 99 cent Sale Ending Soon, Plus a Personal Appeal

Good Morning, dear readers! Actually, it's afternoon. While I have been on vacation from my soul-sucking day job, I have taken to sleeping in until eleven! I must say, it's quite lovely. Alas, last night I had one too many chocolate martinis (who ever thought such a thing was possible!) and awoke with a terrible headache. Once upon a time, there was a little blog hop called 6 Sentence Sunday , but almost as soon as I started participating, it stopped! Fortunately, other authors picked up the slack and created Sneak Peek Sunday , so I joined them for awhile as well. Now I can empathize with the organizers of 6 Sentence Sunday because I have been so busy being a writer (when not working 9, 10, 11 hours a  day) that I had to cut back on social media, including my regular blog posts (136 in 2013 to 45 in 2014). Now I did not officially sign up for Sneak Peek Sunday since I knew I wouldn't get my excerpt up in time, and plus I am making a personal appeal, but I will ad

My Sexy Saturday: We go for a ride! Excerpt from The Proud and the Prejudiced

Image
" This week’s theme is A Sexy Sleigh Ride and it’s our hats off to the holidays. Don’t you just love those amazing holiday sleigh rides? It is one of the most romantic things about the holiday season." Good morning, dear readers, As you see, this week's theme is "A Sexy Sleigh Ride." I fear I must disagree with the lovely coordinators of My Sexy Saturday because I do not think there is anything romantic about snow! I tried living in Colorado once, and over Christmas week, we were hit with a blizzard so bad that the only way to get out of the house was to climb through the second-floor window! Snow is wet and cold. And wet! My boyfriend and I were separated for a week during the holidays while I was stuck in the home of my elderly aunt and uncle, with whom? My other elderly aunt and uncle plus my grandmother and grouchy mother. NOT romantic. I'll keep the heat and humidity of Louisiana, thank you very much. Northerners will tell me, "Oh, but you

A Sexy Morning ~ My Sexy Saturday ~ Dearest Bloodiest Elizabeth

" This week’s theme is A Sexy Morning. Don’t you just love it when you see characters have a snuggle down day that starts with an awesome morning? Or how about making love at dawn on a planet far away? Or watching the morning sky together for the very first time as the sun tops the ridge?  This is a theme about that special time of the day where only lovers go. Do they wake up next to each other and wonder how they got there? Or are they all over one another?" Good morning, dear readers, As you see, this week's theme is "A Sexy Morning." Well, I'm not going to give it to you. Not really, at least. I am sharing an excerpt from Dearest Bloodiest Elizabeth - the upcoming sequel to Pulse and Prejudice , the award-winning paranormal adaptation of the Jane Austen classic, which tells the story of Mr. Darcy, vampire. Since appearing in Entertainment Weekly introduced Pulse and Prejudice to a new audience, I thought  this might be a good time to let read

Cocktails with Romance author Karen "KL" Docter PLUS a Half Price Special Offer & a Cocktail Recipe!

Good evening, dear readers!   Thank you for joining me for Cocktails with Colette , my Happy Hour feature,  which I have on Thursday evenings on occasion to introduce you to some of my  author friends. You might notice that, although I usually have a picture of my own special dirty vodka martini, tonight I have something a little sweeter for your consumption. I call this the "Cosmo Compro" (as in "compromise") because, as always, I am trying to watch my weight - and lately have only watched it go up! This is approximately one part raspberry/pomegranate sorbet light vodka (I really should get a job as a D-minus-list celebrity endorser), one part (or so) club soda, and a bit of lime juice, garnished with a cherry. (I say "approximately" because when I fixed one for my daughter at a 1:1 ratio, she said it just tasted like the  flavored fizzy water my step-mother always has -- so  adjust to your own taste.)  And get this:  it's only 75 calorie
